All incoming 9th/10th grade students are required to complete one unit of swim as a graduation prerequisite.
All incoming 9th grade students will have the opportunity to test out of swim instruction by either one of the following options:
Presenting a Level Five Certification Card from the American Red Cross only. No other certification or evidence will be accepted.
Students must bring evidence of their Level 5 swim certification to the Athletic/Physical Education Office at Hewlett High School on or before Thursday, August 30th, 2023.
In Water Testing:
Students will have the opportunity to pass a one-time In Water Level Five Red Cross Certification module on June 6th from 3:30pm-6:00pm at Hewlett High School’s pool. Swim certified instructors from the teaching staff will be available at no charge to test swim skills in the pool. Students must successfully pass the level five swim test to be exempt from the required swim instruction during their physical education class at Hewlett High School. Appointments and time slots are assigned on a first come first serve basis, no exceptions on Family ID only.

If you fail to appear at your designated time slot you will run the risk of forfeiting the opportunity to test out. All assessments and recommendations from the testing staff are final. There are NO retests and requests for retests will not be honored.

The pool locker rooms will be available during testing times. Parents/guardians/caretakers must remain in their vehicles or outside the school building during testing.
